Review: Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Eyeshadow Palette

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and goodwill, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

- Jules Winnfield, Bad Motherf***er

Pulp Fiction is one of my all time favourite films, so when Urban Decay launched their limited edition Pulp Fiction collection I got Very Excited.
Out of the whole collection, I decided to go for the eyeshadow palette, as I can't resist a neutral eye.

The packing for the palette is soooooo niceeeeee. It's a thick carboardy type palette, with the above Pulp Fiction quote on the front with the Pulp Fiction logo and 'UD" inprinted on the front.
It's a magnetic flap and is all really secure.
The palette comes with a tiny red double ended brush - one side which is flat and fluffy - the other is more pointed and smaller. (I can't find where this brush anywhere!)

The shades are so so beautiful. This is the perfect neutral palette, with a great mixture of matte and sheen shades.

I created a look using all the shades and really loved how simple and easy it was to create such a smokey look! This palette would be perfect for beginners, or for those who want something easy and simple. All the shades really suit my skin tone and are all useable for my complexion. I would definitely recommend this for women of colour with my complexion and a little darker.

The shades:

Righteous
A matte cream highlighting/ blending shade. This is the only shade from the whole palette I'm a bit 'eh' about. It's a nice blending shade, but doesn't really show up on my skin tone very well. I've tried using it as a brow bone highlight, but it just doesn't really do anything. I use it as a base on my lid so other shadows apply better - although you can't actually see anything.

Tyranny
A matte pale brown with no orangey undertone. I find it soooo hardddd to find a matte brown that's fairly pale and a perfect match for my skin tone. The day has come! I truly love this shade - it's a perfect transitioning shade for my complexion and ideal for every day.

Vengeance
A darker brown sheen shade. Another amazing shade that I've never managed to find before this palette. This shade is basically matte with a slight sheen to it. It's a very small amount of sheen so I find that it works perfect with a matte eye.

Furious
Your standard matte black. I love that they have split this so it's a half size. I don't think I've ever used up a black matte shadow before and I always get them in palettes. Urban Decay do my favourite matte black eyeshadows - they're not chalky or grey - they're intense pure black.

Anger
A slightly shimmer white - this one is perfect for a brow bone highlight that is subtle without being too glittery or shimmery.

All of the shadows are creamy and buttery and blend like a dream.

I used all of the shades from the palette for this look - plus a gold shimmery shade (UD's Half Baked from Naked & Naked 2 would be perfect!)

Righteous all over the lid, blended all the way up to the brow bone. Tyranny blended into the crease and blended up to soften. Vengeance added into the crease to intensify - blended again with Tyranny to soften. Furious in the outer V blended into the crease. Anger to highlight the brow bone. I added Half Baked onto the lid and blended it all together. I took Furious on a pencil brush and added it onto the lower lash line and buffed it out to make it nice and smokey. Then added thick black winged eyeliner and lots of mascara on the upper and lower lashes.

The rest of my make up:

Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation in 048 in Sun Beige
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer in Medium
Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot mattifying powder in Translucent

Eyebrows:

And that's all of it! Apologies for how lengthly this post got - I always like as much info as possible before I invest in a palette since they're usually more expensive.
