Review & Swatches - Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade

Where did this obsession with highlighters come from? The need to become glowy and dewy has taken over the beauty world. With trends like strobing (I think potentially a little too far, but hey, just my opinion!) it's hard not to join the bandwagon of looking like a glowy goddess.

I've got a couple of highlighters, but they tend to be pink / rose gold / brown / gold based and I was on the hunt for more of a champagne shade. I found it difficult to find a champagne shade of highlight that wasn't too stark white on my skin tone or too glittery.

ENTER MAC - I knew their mineralize skin finishes were raved about so was expecting good things. I swatched Lightscapade in store and instantly fell in love.

I apply this with a small fluffy brush on the highest point of my cheekbones, cupids bow, centre of my forehead, chin, and down the centre of my nose.

Not only is this a really flattering shade for my skin tone, but it's really pigmented and long lasting. I find that with some powder highlighters they tend to fade on my skin pretty quickly, but this one lasts all day!

Lightscapade is incredibly aesthetically pleasing - I'm sorry, but look how dreamy this is?! Its also the perfect champagne shade with a hint of shimmer. It's super buildable, so I can give myself a subtle glow or go full on Angel if I want to.

Overall, this is a great highlighter and a lovely shade that I reckon would suit all skin tones - especially people with my complexion or a little more tanned. I think the key to highlighting is to blend blend blend. It's pretty dangerous that I like this skin finish so much cause it probably means I'll want to try them all...ya girl got problems.
What shades would you recommend? Any favourite highlighters?

  1. Hey Ram I love what you did with the new lay out! I've almost bought this one a couple times but right now I'm eyeing The Balm's Mary Lou Manizer, although I'm such a a sucker for pretty marbled products like this one! xx

    1. Oh thank you! It was definitely in need of a spring clean! Oooh I've been eyeing that one up for aaaages - all of The Balm's luminizers look so pretty 🙊 I feel like this one is gonna take me ages to use up cause it's soooo pigmented!

  2. I have skinfinish in Global Glow and I'm absolutely obsessed with its formula too! It literally just melts into the skin! Global Glow is definitely more of a bronzed/golden highlight, so I was intrigued to see how this shade would look. I've always thought it would look chalky but it gives such a lovely irridescent radiance, might have to give it a go!

Sinéad xo ♥ fabuleuse, toujours ♥

    1. Oh goddd, I might have to try that shade too! That's what I thought as well, but it's so buttery and smooth when I swatched it that I knew I was gonna fall in love with it.
