Review & Swatches: Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Contour Quad in Plum

So, very soon I'll be able to reveal how I came about owning this beautiful quad, but for now I must keep it quiet....very shady I know! Anyways! I really love this little guy - Kat Von D's eye contour quads are a 'new take' on contouring, but contouring your eyes. All matte shades which are super versatile, pigmented and smooth.

The shades are named after what they're intended to do on your eyes which I think is super handy, especially if you're just starting out in the eyeshadow game.

Base is a super pretty light rosy pink shade. I'm actually shocked at how pigmented this shade is! I can imagine this looking really nice in the crease or as a transition shade for a super light and bright eye look. The shadow is smooth, buttery, powdery and super easy to blend.

Define is a super rich, dark plum. This is designed to be an outer corner shade to really define an eye look and give it a nice smoky look. This shade wasn't as buttery as the previous one and was ever so slightly more chalky, but once blended still worked like a dream

Contour is a light violet plum shade. I'm in loooove with this shade! This one is made to be for the crease as a transition shade. It's super smooth, almost creamy and really easy to blend. I'm excited to play around with this shade!

Highlight is a cool toned almost white lavender shade. Looking at this in the palette I really didn't think this was going to show well on my skin tone, but I'm so impressed! This is a really nice cool toned shade that won't make me look ashy and add a little vibrance to an eye look. It'll also look really nice as a brow bone highlight!

So I attempted to try out the palette as the shades are described and came up with this look. I really like how it turned out and all the shadows were really easy to work with, blended really nicely and super pigmented so you only need the tiniest bit of product meaaaaaning this palette will last you forever. I didn't use a primer and no setting spray and this lasted a solid 8 hours on my face without fading, or disappearing into my crease.

Base all over my lid and buffed up into my brow bone. Contour went into my crease and blended out so it was nice and seamless. Define went on the outer corner and blended into contour - I switched back and forth between Contour and Define to ensure I wasn't blending the other shade away. I went back over my lid with Base and made sure it was all buffed into Contour so no harsh lines. Highlight I added on my brow bone and inner corner of my eye.

I love how easy and simple this palette was to use! I'm looking forward to adding some sparkly shimmer shades to a look like this and mixing up the shades a bit.

Have you tried any of these quads? What did you think?
